Introduction

Welcome to ClipaX, a privacy-first clipboard manager designed for desktop workflows. At ClipaX, your privacy is important to us. This privacy policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you use our app, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

Information Collection and Use

We collect the following types of data to provide you with a better experience while using ClipaX:

  1. Account Information

    • What We Collect: This includes your name, email address, and any other information you provide when creating an account.
    • Purpose: To manage your account and provide customer support.
  2. Usage Details

    • What We Collect: Information about how you use ClipaX, such as in-app actions, feature usage, performance signals, and diagnostics.
    • Purpose: To improve product quality, understand feature adoption, and troubleshoot issues. We do not sell your personal information.
  3. Device Information

    • What We Collect: Data regarding the devices you use to access ClipaX, such as device type, operating system, and browser type.
    • Purpose: To optimize our services for different devices and ensure compatibility.
  4. Cookies

    • What We Collect: Small data files placed on your device that help us track user preferences and improve user experience.
    • Purpose: To enhance the functionality of our services and personalize your experience.
  5. Payment and Billing Information

    • What We Collect: Payments are processed through third-party payment providers such as the Apple App Store or other payment processors. We do not directly store your full payment card information.
    • Purpose: To facilitate billing and payment processing for our services.

Clipboard Data and Sync

ClipaX is a clipboard manager that may store clipboard content and related metadata (for example, timestamps or item type) to provide clipboard history, search, previews, and other core features.

  • Local history: Clipboard content may be stored locally on your device to provide history and search.
  • Optional cloud sync: If you enable cloud sync, clipboard data is encrypted on your device before transmission. Encrypted data may be stored in your selected third-party cloud storage provider (for example, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, or WebDAV), depending on your configuration.
  • No ad use of clipboard content: We do not use your clipboard content for advertising.
  • Deletion: You may delete clipboard history from within the app. If you use third-party cloud storage for sync, you may also need to delete stored encrypted data from that provider to fully remove it.

Third-Party Authentication

ClipaX supports Sign in with Google and GitHub OAuth.

When you sign in through these providers, ClipaX receives:

  • Email address
  • Display name (if available)
  • Provider user ID

This information is used only for account creation, authentication, and account-related features (for example, enabling sync if you choose to use it). ClipaX does not access other Google or GitHub account data. You may revoke authorization at any time through your provider account settings.

Third-Party Cloud Storage Services

You may optionally enable sync with Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, or WebDAV. Data is transmitted through the official APIs of these services. These providers may process data according to their own privacy policies. ClipaX does not control and is not responsible for the privacy practices of those providers.

Analytics and Telemetry (PostHog)

We use PostHog to understand how the Service is used and to improve reliability and usability.

  • What we collect: usage events (for example, which screens or actions are used), feature adoption signals, basic device/app information, and approximate location derived from IP address (as provided by your network). These events may be associated with a pseudonymous identifier and, if you are signed in, may be linked to your account.
  • What we do not collect: we do not intentionally send your clipboard content to PostHog. If a specific event needs context (for example, the type of an item), we prefer non-sensitive metadata and avoid the raw clipboard payload.
  • Cookies: PostHog may use cookies or similar technologies on the website to recognize your browser and measure traffic and usage.
  • How it is used: analytics are used to improve features, diagnose issues, and measure the effectiveness of onboarding and product changes. We do not sell your personal information.
  • Opt-out: you can limit cookie-based analytics by adjusting your browser settings or using content blocking tools. In the app, if we provide an analytics/telemetry toggle in settings, that toggle controls whether we send analytics events from the app.

PostHog is a third-party service provider. PostHog processes data according to its own policies. For details, please review PostHog's documentation and privacy policy.

Data Storage and Security

We take the security of your personal information seriously. The data we collect is stored securely on our servers, and we implement a variety of security measures including encryption and access controls to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of your personal information. However, please be aware that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to outside parties, except in the following circumstances:

  • To comply with legal obligations or respond to lawful requests from public authorities.
  • To protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our users or others.
  • To provide services through trusted third-party providers such as cloud hosting, analytics, or payment processing services, subject to confidentiality and data protection obligations.

Your Rights and Data Control

You may request to access, update, or delete your account information at any time by contacting us.
You may also delete your account from within the App, which will remove associated data from our systems, subject to legal retention requirements. Since clipboard data is stored in your own cloud storage, you may delete that data directly from your cloud provider. Revoking OAuth access will prevent future authentication.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "effective date" at the top of this policy. You are advised to review this privacy policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this privacy policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
