Nexus quick-paste
Desktop floating Nexus window: global shortcut, search, paste, and Pro window styles.
Nexus is a desktop-only floating window for finding and pasting from history without opening the main dashboard. It is ideal when you are deep in another app (IDE, browser, chat) and need a clip immediately.
Nexus is not available on iOS or Android. Mobile users: iOS & Android.

Open Nexus
| Platform | Default shortcut |
|---|---|
| macOS | Cmd+Shift+V |
| Windows | Ctrl+Shift+V |
| Linux (X11) | (none) — assign in Settings → Shortcuts (registers a system shortcut) |
| Linux (Wayland) | (none) — bind clipax --show-nexus in desktop settings — Shortcuts |
Change the binding under Settings → Shortcuts.
Using Nexus
- Press the global shortcut — Nexus opens along a screen edge (Settings → Nexus for style).
- Type to search the list.
- Double-click an item to paste into the previously focused application.
- Press Esc to dismiss without pasting.
Nexus respects the same history, favorites, and filters as the main window (filter state may differ by version—check release notes).
Window styles (Pro)
Settings → Nexus offers visual styles for the Nexus chrome (opacity, layout presets). Extra styles require Pro — see Nexus window styles and Plans.
Tips
- Keep ClipaX running in the tray so Nexus can access history.
- On Wayland, prefer a desktop environment shortcut over unreliable global hook APIs.
- Pair with Paste as plain text when pasting into terminals.
