Search & filters
Search stored text in the toolbar; narrow by sidebar, toolbar filters, and content-type chips.
When history grows, the toolbar search field, sidebar, and other filters help you reach the right clip in seconds.
Quick search (toolbar)
- Focus the search field in the toolbar above the history list (desktop) or pull down on mobile.
- Type keywords — ClipaX searches stored text content for each item:
- Text clips — body and preview text
- Files — path and file name (when available)
- Images — OCR text (extracted automatically in the background on all plans)
- Tap a result to open Canvas.
Search does not match category or tag names. Favorites is at the top of the sidebar. To filter by category or tag, select one in the Categories or Tags sections — or use the Filter field at the bottom of the sidebar to find a category or tag in those lists.

Sidebar filters

The Filter field at the bottom of the sidebar searches category and tag names in those lists only — not clip text.
Toolbar filter popover
Open the filter control next to the search field for:

| Date | Today, yesterday, this week, this month, etc. |
| Source app | Desktop: which app produced the copy |
| Device | Cloud Sync: which machine uploaded the item |
Source app is desktop-only (mobile OS does not expose the same metadata). To hide apps from capture entirely, see Source app filters.
Content type chips
Above the list, narrow by Text, Image, Link, or File without typing in search.
Combine search + filters
Example: search deploy + sidebar Categories → Work + type chip Text → work-related text clips whose stored text contains “deploy”.
Clear toolbar and sidebar filters from the UI controls on each surface.
Tips
- Image OCR runs automatically in the background; very recent screenshots may take a moment before they appear in toolbar search.
- Favorite frequently pasted items and open them from Favorites at the top of the sidebar.
- Large cleanup? Adjust History retention instead of deleting blindly.
